When none other than Ricky Gervais dubs you ‘one of the most
influential stand-ups of the last 10 years’, you must be doing something
right.
Since Sean became the first comedian to ever play Wembley Stadium
when he opened for Newman and Baddiel’s legendary 90s arena gigs,
he has been building up a reputation as one of the UK’s most original
joke-tellers, with sets packed full of dry wit and absurd observations.
Away from the stage, Sean has taken on team captain duties for five
series of 8 Out of 10 Cats, interviewed the likes of Jack Dee
and Alan Carr on two series of Channel 4’s TV Heaven, Telly
Hell and showcased his stand-up on BBC 1’s Live At The Apollo.
Sean’s status as a God amongst comedy connoisseurs was cemented when
he wrote and starred in two series of BBC3’s cult sitcom 15 Storeys.
Sean put in a flawless turn as a morose, phobic lifeguard, living in a
highrise populated by plausible eccentrics and the show drew comparisons
to ‘vintage Seinfeld’ from The Times. It was eventually released
on DVD last year following massive public demand and a campaign by
The Guardian who sighed ‘we’re fed up of telling you how good it is
– if you’re not watching it, you’re fools’.
Live, Sean’s comedy is an inspired product of a hyperactive mind,
effortlessly combining surreal flights of the imagination with pin-sharp
insights into the human condition. His brand new show for 2008 will give
you a chance to see why the man is continually ducking the plaudits.
