Scotland’s reigning Queen of Comedy follows her sell-out national
live tour with a very special one-off performance at the Magners Glasgow
International Comedy Festival.
Karen burst into the public consciousness appearing alongside Greg
Hemphill and Ford Kiernan in BBC Radio Scotland’s Chewin’
The Fat. A phenomenally successful transfer to BBC1 Scotland saw the
show run for three series and become a seminal part of Hogmanay, with
their hugely popular specials regularly keeping over one million
revellers entertained.
One of the most dizzyingly versatile comedy performers working today,
Karen is equally at home playing everyone from deranged cabaret singers
to repressed biology teachers by way of everybody’s 3am Sauchiehall
Street nightmare Shoeless Josie.
Karen’s menagerie of tragicomic creations flourished when she
branched out on her own with four series of the double Rose
D’Or-nominated The Karen Dunbar Show and starred with Julie
Wilson Nimmo in the BBC sitcom In Voluntary. Away from the
small screen, Karen packed out two acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh
Fringe and recently hung up her wand following her wildly successful
panto debut as Nanny Begood in the King’s Theatre’s five star Xmas
extravaganza Sleeping Beauty.
In a night of unmissable one-woman entertainment, Karen unleashes her
formidable talents and promises non-stop mirth, madness and music. In
the words of her mother tongue ‘it's better felt than telt!’
