An gilt-edged extravaganza of an evening from Scotland’s favourite
kilted cheeky chappy!
Gripped by the performance bug from the age of ten when he won an
East Kilbride talent show with a mean Cleo Laine impersonation, the
young Craig Hill knew showbiz was for him.
After studying acting at Queen Margaret’s College, Craig took his
first tentative steps into stand-up when a friend secretly entered him
into an open mic night at Edinburgh’s legendary Gilded Balloon. Despite
having to be physically shoved on stage, the audience loved it and ten
years later it would take an army to drag him away from the spotlight.
Craig’s effortless rapport with the crowd, his contagious personality,
glorious comic timing and downright sense of joy make him that rarest of
things- an absolutely natural performer.
From early cult appearances in BBC Radio Scotland’s Velvet Cabaret,
Craig’s barnstorming, force of nature solo shows have been the runaway
success of the Edinburgh Fringe and the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
The man with the broadest grin in showbiz has added sparkle to many a
broadcast from the BBC’s Hogmanay and T In The Park coverage to writing
and performing in all three series of BBC 2’s hit Live Floor Show.
For BBC Radio Scotland he hosted Craig Hill’s Passionate Encounters
plus comedy panel show Famous For Five Minutes and in 2005 he was
given the ultimate accolade of his very own TV show- BBC Scotland’s
Craig Hill’s Out Tonight.
Live, Craig is an entertainer in the greatest sense. His sublime
vocal stylings allow him to re-appropriate the great divas (who could
forget Dame Shirley Bassey chanting Who Ate All The Pies?
or Julie Andrews’ hip hop stylings?) and his stand-up is
unabashedly camp and celebratory. Swept along by a fabulous flurry of
quick, acid-tongued wit and show-stopping tunes, Craig makin’ a big song
and dance is sure to be a night to remember.
